Welcome to the Music Room
I am so excited to see you all in the music room this year. It has been such a great start to our year and classes are already hard at working learning music and music concepts. Our music room is not a big place but we sure do a lot of big activities. Students are encouraged to use movement to help them demonstrate or explore a variety of musical concepts. This will be a very exciting year for students in the music room. I am excited to continue our ukulele program this year with the grades 5 and 6 classes. Students in grade 2 - 6 will be introduced to African Drumming using both djembes and tubano drums. Staying the same as last year all grades will explore playing and performing on the xylophones and non- pitched percussion instruments. Recorder will begin in grade four this year! I look forward to continuing our music adventure this year! Expectations 1. In the music room we always try our very best! 2. Respect all staff, students and instruments 3. When Mrs. Collins is talking, students are listening. 4. If you play when I don't say, your instrument will be taken away. 5. Treat others how you want to be treated. Drama and Choirs! Ruth Hooker School offers a variety of opportunities for our students to become involved in music activities. Choirs are finally back at Ruth Hooker School. Students participate in choir once a cycle. In choir we learn fun popular and classical choir songs. Our choir schedule for this year is as follows: Day 2: 3/4 Choir Day 4: 1/2 Choir Day 6: 5/6 Choir |
